What of Ernie's work? 'Excellent' I think does it. It is strong, well engineered and well finished.
Ours did weigh a bit, 32kg in total, but that was because we asked for it to be in Mild steel where
possible, being easier to get repaired in the outback. The belly pan / tool box's were an adapted
'Africa Twin' item and as such are alloy. The box's, Ernie built, are alloy. The brush guards are
as bought, alloy / plastic. Foot rest's are 'Touratech' stainless job's mounted on bespoke mild
steel plates, the machine is now a 'solo', the seat to was cut down and remade by a fellow in
Lowestoft. Additional lighting by PIAA.

All well finished and strongly built, as I found out when the bike, fully loaded, and I were launched
along an 'Armco' barrier and into a drainage ditch! Once I had got myself and the bike out, I
repaired the puncture, straightened the mirror and untwisted the fork's. Of we went on our merry
way, what damage had been done to the luggage, its frame, belly pan and the forward crash
frame was sorted with a hammer and scaffold bar later that day. The computer I was carrying is
still working to this day! The only loss, 1 PIAA lamp! My only alteration since is to remove the Fuel
/ water rack from above the rear seat space, while it provided a good back rest and secure
storage for fuel / water it gave me concern when I came off. This item was my idea, not Ernie's,
should have listened! The lower frame is still in place as it provides good storage for small stuff,
water proof's, etc. and gives the box carriers some bracing. The water is in the tank bag, 'camel
back' or in the panniers and fuel is strapped to the top of the panniers if required. I used empty
plastic gallon / 5ltr containers then trashed them when not needed.

I would happily recommend Ernie & "Overland Solutions" to any one who is planning a 'Journey'
I found he is easy to talk to and is ready to discuss ideas, always open to personal preference.
While he had experience and practical skill, he is prepared to try and achieve given ideas, very
professional and an all round good egg!
